The second option, Commados and Allies, will allow players to take advatage of the specialized units while also commanding some of the more generic soldier units as well. This option will likely make the experience most like a chess game as it has the least number of units that have the highest degree of specialization as opponents maneuver these special soldiers carefully around the map. All of them will have their special abilities in tact as well as their shared abilities.

Commandos mode will make only the team of Commandos available for each player to use. Each of these different types of play will be available in three different modes, all of which will provide pretty different experiences from each other, even with the similarities. Multiplayer in Commandos 3 will include Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and cooperative with up to 12 players. At least some of the single player campaigns have some timed missions that will get you accustomed to the idea of moving your forces quickly and using them and their skills in unison. Single player allows you to scroll around the map and learn the patrol patterns and see the lay of the land before you begin your assault. Especially when you consider that line of sight is actually taken into consideration in multiplayer. The fact that it's Commandos and you'll have to employ some specific units in a pretty small setting mean you'll have to be able to think and implement your tactics as quick as possible, almost like a clocked chess game. You never know exactly what type of approach your opponent will take and having to react with some bit of fluidity is important. YES NO Multiplayer against other people will force you to act quickly and decisively when setting up your forces. Most of the events in a Commandos single player game are also scripted including patrol paths and the timing thereof, allowing for a good bit of planning and thought to go into each and every one of your moves. Not only that, but the creativity involved in trap laying, ambushing, flanking, setting up units for good shots and the rest isn't really something the computer will do in the single player game unless it's been set-up that way from the mission start.

Humans have the ability to change tactics in the middle of a game dramatically in order to simple confuse or because a weakness has been spotted. The computer, while it has some good AI that reacts to vision and sound and will alert other enemies on the map to your presence, will never react the same way as a human will and will not think as cunningly during the course of a game. Human players can think and act creatively. When you play against a computer in a scenario in one of the single player maps, you have some advantages over the computer. Playing against a human opponent makes a rather gigantic difference. Playing multiplayer Commandos obviously requires a much different approach and tactics than the single player campaign does. So I talked some trash in the first multiplayer game that I loaded up with Pyro's Inigo Vinos in Commandos 3, and quickly got the fire stomped out of me. And if the game goes better than expected, it's even more fan for the fire.

It's safe, having never actually played the game, the lack of knowledge about the interface and mechanics is an easy excuse for any loss. I'm usually the first to start talking trash when jumping into a game for the first time. After getting some time to check out the different modes in multiplayer Commandos, I can tell you that it's a much different experience playing this game against a human opponent. This time around, while the enormous challenge of the single player campaigns stays unchanged, multiplayer has been added into the mix for those that want to challenge their friends with trap setting, sniping, knifing, and whatever else they can think up. But in the past, the challenge and skill in the game was all in the single player strategy and puzzle solving of the campaigns. Their last iteration of the series, Commandos 2: Men of Courage, was about a tough a game as I've played in my 3 1/2 years here at IGNPC.

The Commandos series of games from Spanish developer Pyro Studios has long been considered some of the most challenging strategy games out on the market.
